Should I use a professional fitter?
This largely depends on two factors, whether you are capable of installing the floor yourself and whether you can afford or want to pay for the cost of a professional fitter.
If you are happy to pay the cost of a professional fitter then it is always advisable to do so. A professional will be able to ensure a more careful and precise finish while also being able to complete the installation in a timelier manner.
For those who are willing to take the dive and install the floor themselves there are a few things you will need to consider before you embark on your DIY venture.

Do you have the tools and experience using said tools to complete the work? Getting new tools can be expensive, and as the saying goes ‘a worker is only as good as their tools’ so if you try and make do with inexpensive tools you could end up with a subpar finish.
The physical requirements may not be obvious at first, but installing flooring can be extremely demanding, especially on your knees and back
Do you have a way of disposing of your old flooring? If not, a professional may be able to help find a way to dispose of your flooring for you.
Being able to identify issues with the subfloor before placing the floor is important in order to prevent issues further down the line that can cost you further money.
If you make a mistake with your flooring you may need to buy more flooring to fix the issue, which can make the savings you are making through DIY decrease.
Are you happy dealing with odd shaped rooms or rooms where the floor isn’t perfectly level? If not, a professional may be the way to go.
If you are still wanting to go ahead with doing the work itself, we strongly advise that you do your research first, and don’t forget to measure twice, cut once.
