How to choose between oiled and lacquered finishes
Both oil and lacquer offer fantastic finishes for your wood floor and we understand finding the perfect finish for your wood floor will be important to you. Some of our floors can even come with finishing on the wood so saving you time when you come to fit your floor.
Lacquer floor finishing can either come in a satin or a matt finish depending on preference. Satin lacquer offers fantastic durability and is one of the easiest to clean finishes that you can choose.
Satin is perfect for low-light situations as the existing light is reflected off the lacquered finished floor’s sheen so giving a brighter and friendly ambience. Matt lacquer also offers fantastic protection without the same sheen that you would get with satin meaning the finish gives a more natural appearance. This gives the same sort of results of an oiled floor with an easier maintenance scheme.
An oiled flooring finish offers another fantastic finish for your floor. Using natural oils allows the true beauty of your floor to come through while maintaining a protective layer to protect the wood itself. Oil finishes offer fantastic protection, but it is worth taking into account that oil finishes require more maintenance with the finishing needing to be replaced each year.
