How to clean engineered wood flooring

Engineered wood flooring offers a fantastic aesthetic style for your home, and with regular care you can ensure your wood floor stays looking amazing for many years to come.

How should I clean my floor?

We would always recommend carrying out regular vacuuming of your floor, not only to make your floor look clean, but also this helps remove any grit that could scratch the floor. If you’re using wood flooring in entrance areas, we would also suggest that you place down entrance mats to protect the floor when you walk in from outside. As with any type of flooring, removal of shoes can help protect the floor from anything on the underside of your shoes.

What should I use to clean my floor?

If you have spilt any liquids onto the floor, we would advise using a damp mop to clean the spill. By cleaning the spill as soon as you possibly can you will reduce the chance of the floor staining.

If you choose an oil finish for your floor, you will find that manufacturers will recommend that you reapply the finish each year to maintain the protection of the finish. It is advisable to avoid using washing up liquid as a residue can be left behind. Other than vacuuming and using a damp mop for spills, we would only suggest using an aftercare floor kit for that additional level of flooring defence.
